Township of Lent Logo Contest Rules

Lent Township is a small, independent community nestled between Stacy and

North Branch, MN. Since the opening of the County Road 17 interchange on I35,

Lent Township has been balancing the goal of maintaining its rural character while

actively planning for the changes that come with expanding communities. A new

logo is needed to help reflect hometown values and yet project a professional

image to promote business growth within the commercial district.

The Township would like to encourage community involvement by conducting a

logo contest. The chosen logo will be used on letterhead, business cards, signs

and other items. The Township will award a $100 prize and recognition of the

winning artist for the selected entry.

Rules and Guidelines:

! Include the words "Township of Lent" within the logo.

! Artist of all ages may participate. Minor entrants must also have their parent’s signature on the release form. Lent Township

employees and elected officials are prohibited from entering.

! The scale of the design must be suitable for electronic and print publications. Logo should be basically square, round, or

oval and not too wide or high so that it may be used on letterhead, signs, website, apparel, decals and/or other larger-scale applications.

Type should be large and readable enough to be easily legible when reproduced quite small, e.g. 1" square.

! The design must be reproducible in color as well as black-and-white. Spot color is preferred to full color for economy in

reproduction. Artists are encouraged to submit both color and black-and-white versions of their designs.

! Logos must be submitted on one 8 1/2'" x 11" sheet or panel. An explanation or rationale for the design may also be submitted

with the logo.

! Submission of an electronic file is encouraged. File resolution should be a minimum 300 dpi. Vector graphic files are

preferred. Format must be usable in Microsoft Word® and/or Microsoft Publisher®.

! All submissions must be free of copyrighted material or a valid release must be submitted with the design.

! All submissions will become the exclusive property of the Township of Lent and will not be returned. Submissions may be

altered or modified without the artist’s permission.

! Multiple entries by one artist will be accepted, but each entry must be accompanied by a separate submission form.

Submissions: Submit designs with Submission and Release Form no later than 4:00 p.m., Thursday,

January 31, 2008, to the address listed on the submission form. The winning artist will be required

to sign the Release Form, thereby releasing all rights to their entry.

Selection: A committee will select the best entries for review and selection by the Lent Town Board

of Supervisors on February 19, 2008. Entries will be judged based on the suitability of the design for

the intended use, aesthetic appeal, and its ability to convey a positive image of Lent Township and

its character. The Township reserves the right to reject any and all submissions. All decisions are

final. The winner will be contacted by February 26, 2008. The winning entry will be unveiled and

prize awarded at Lent Township’s Annual Town Meeting on March 11, 2008.

Prize: The Township will award $100.00 and recognition of the winning artist for the selected entry.
