:: Meeting Minutes Aug 21

Opening--Girl Scout Promise

Council Announcements--Icebreaker game/troop idea, upcoming training dates and training options, Silver Award workshop flyers.

Business:

Council Guides, flyers, brochures, catalogs etc. were distributed at this meeting. Early registration patches were distributed to troops that registered during the early campaign.

Treasury update--provided by Tammy on behalf of Amy who was unable to attend. Current account activity was discussed.

Delegate announcements--Toni shared that there would be a delegate meeting on Sept 6th for voting and discussion about realignment. On a side note a question was asked about the Girl Scout Council of Saint Croix Valley website and the new Girl Scout Council of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys website. Both sites will continue to operate and will be linked.

Recruitment--Tammy, Deb, and Amy will be working on recruitment activities. Tables are approved for Primary and Sunrise Open Houses September 4th. Help is needed to staff shifts at tables. There will also be an event on Sunday, September 23, noon to 4:00 at Central Park, North Branch.  It would be especially good to have Girl Scouts from several age levels assisting at the event in the park. Some ideas include simple games. Please consider helping out. Call Tammy to volunteer for either date. Leader Orientation dates have also been chosen and will be promoted to adults at these events in hopes of having a strong turnout and timely start up of troops. Dates selected are October 4 and October 6. More details to come.

Spaghetti Dinner--Tammy and Ryan. Will be held November 16. Reservation at Lent Town Hall is confirmed. Event will be extended until 10:00pm. It will be troops choice if girls need to go home earlier than close. We may have an opportunity to do clean-up the next day instead of the night of the event.

6-12 Encampment--Toni and Dawn. Looking at many options. Possibly October or November. Unable to make decisions yet due to the fact that not all eligible troops are registered (membership registration) yet, so the committee is unable to get a printed roster with an accurate number of members to make estimates for. Dawn and Toni are asking that if you are planning to attend the 6-12 encampment to please contact them within the next two weeks so they can get a firmed up number of girls/adults to plan for. Also, remember to turn in your membership registrations right away! Thanks!

Troop Sponsored Events:

Powder Puff Derby--Troop 1379 Vickie DuChaine. Date April 18th. Boy Scout car kits will be used. (better quality than last year's kits) All participants must sign up with troop 1379 by November 16 to be included--A lead time for securing car kits is needed.

New Business:

Child Care at meetings--older troops please sign up to do child care during leader meetings. This is a wonderful service opportunity for the girls and gives leaders with children a chance to attend the meeting. Call Tammy to select a date.

Adult Recognitions--suggested to bypass having a structured event and instead get together informally at a restaraunt to socialize and enjoy an evening out. This seemed to be a well received option. More details to come.

Cookie Dough-Ryan still has some unclaimed cookie dough. If your troop has not yet picked up cookie dough please see Ryan ASAP.

Wrap up:

Court of Awards wrap up--many leaders commented on the wonderful job done on the court of awards by Sara Lebens. Everyone unanimously had great feedback on the dinner and the event. Some suggestions were shared regarding seating and length of program for next year.
